Plain language, on purpose. SwimBoard is built to need almost nothing from you.

Overview

SwimBoard is a companion app for viewing a swim meet's live scoreboard data — Event, Heat, lane numbers, and running/finish times always, plus swimmer and team names when the meet operator has that data available — as shared by that meet's timing operator, including on your iPhone's Lock Screen via Live Activities. This policy explains what the app collects, and — just as importantly — what it doesn't.

Information We Collect

Scoreboard Code & access token. When you enter a meet's Scoreboard Code, the app uses that code (and an access token issued for it) to connect to our server and retrieve that specific meet's live data. This identifies a meet session, not you — SwimBoard never asks for your name, email address, or any account.

Device push token, for Live Activities only. If you start a Live Activity to show meet data on your Lock Screen, iOS issues a device-specific push token. We register that token with our server so Apple's Push Notification service (APNs) can deliver Lock Screen updates while a Live Activity is running. This token identifies your device's notification channel, not you personally, and is used only to update the Live Activity you started.

Meet data displayed on screen. SwimBoard always shows Event, Heat, lane numbers, running and finish times, and heat place. When the meet operator has also been able to import that meet's entry list into the timing console, SwimBoard additionally displays swimmer names, team names, and event names (e.g., "13&Under Boys 100 Freestyle") — the same information already published in that meet's Psych Sheet, which the host team distributes to every participating team before the meet. That import isn't always possible (for example, if the operator can't retrieve the meet's data files from the Meet Admin's computer), in which case those names simply don't appear — SwimBoard doesn't collect this data itself, doesn't let you submit or edit it, and doesn't retain it beyond the live display.

Nothing else about you. Beyond the meet data above, we do not collect your name, email, phone number, precise location, contacts, photos, or any other personal information. SwimBoard has no analytics SDK, no advertising SDK, and no third-party trackers.

How We Use Information

  • To connect your copy of the app to the correct meet's live scoreboard data.
  • To deliver Live Activity updates to your Lock Screen through Apple's APNs.

We do not sell, rent, or share Scoreboard Codes, tokens, or push tokens with third parties for advertising or marketing, and we never will.

Data Retention

Scoreboard Codes, access tokens, and device push tokens are kept only as long as needed to support live viewing for the meet they belong to, and are periodically purged once a meet concludes.

Third-Party Services

SwimBoard relies on Apple's Push Notification service (APNs) solely to deliver Lock Screen Live Activity updates. Apple's handling of that data is governed by Apple's own privacy practices, not this policy.

Children's Privacy

SwimBoard is intended for general audiences, including swimmers, parents, and teammates following a meet — many of them minors, since competitive swimming skews young. The app itself does not collect anything from its own users regardless of age: there's no sign-up, and nothing you enter into the app is stored beyond what's described above. The one exception is the meet data described in "Meet data displayed on screen" — when that data is available for a given meet, swimmer and team names appear on screen exactly as provided by that meet's own timing/entry system, the same information already published in that meet's own Psych Sheet, distributed by the host team to every participating team before the meet. Event names follow standard age-group meet naming conventions (for example, "13&Under" or "15-18"), but SwimBoard does not calculate, store, or display any individual swimmer's specific age or date of birth.

Security

Connections between the app and our server use standard transport encryption. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but SwimBoard is designed from the ground up to simply not hold the kind of personal data that would make a breach meaningful.

Changes to This Policy

If this policy changes, the update will be posted on this page with a revised "Last updated" date above.

SwimBoard displays data provided by a meet's timing system and is an independent, unofficial companion tool — it is not the meet's official results source. For official times and results, contact your meet host or timing operator.
